WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO

Women in Data was founded by Precision Sourcing’s Analytics Team, Leisha Morrison and Joel Stein.

The idea for this was born from hearing men and women in data that the male/female ratio was unbalanced and not representative of talent. With culture being a huge factor for many people this proved to be a hot topic. STEM subjects still remain heavily male orientated at university level which then feeds into the gender gap on a much wider level.

The main aim of Women in Data is three-fold:
  • to enable women to have a platform where they are the majority and to give them the opportunity to raise their voice and network with like minded colleagues in Data centric roles.
  • to create awareness of how data interacts with every department of the business.
  • To upskill data professionals in technical, soft and communication skills so that the way they interact with other teams and departments allows a more functional work environment for all.

WHO WOMEN IN DATA IS AIMED AT

It’s important for both men and women to get involved – we love for men to support and understand some of the issues that women face working in an industry where the ratio of males to females is 4:1. By supporting and understanding this, men become advocates to their female colleagues and foster relationships that champion data teams integral to the analytics community; this gives women a voice within an industry network that will aim to educate and include all data professionals. This community can then create tangible initiatives like education, training, and partnerships within the analytics space.
